Biography


House Majority Leader Morgan Griffith has been a member of the Virginia House of Delegates since 1994. He represents the 8th District, which is comprised of the City of Salem and portions of Roanoke County.

A graduate of Salem’s Andrew Lewis High School, Morgan is an honors graduate of Emory & Henry College. After completing his studies at Washington and Lee University School of Law, Morgan returned to Salem to practice law.

A leader in the Virginia General Assembly, Morgan’s colleagues elected him House Majority Leader in 2000. He is a member of the House Courts of Justice and Militia, Police and Public Safety Committees, and serves as Vice Chairman of the Rules Committee. He is also a member of the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission and serves as Chairman of the Virginia Freedom of Information Advisory Council.

A former student body president at Andrew Lewis High School, Morgan has remained active in our community throughout his life. His current civic activities include:
